Why?

Why does this site exist? Because there are a lot of young writers out there who deserve to be published, and a lot of books which should never have been published. The hope is that we can learn from the mistakes of existing books to improve our own craft. Learning from your own mistakes is great, but if someone who has “made it” can make those mistakes for us, why not learn from those?

Now, our favorite learning resource always seems to be the Inheritance Cycle (so called now, due to bad planning, but that is another issue), and for good reason. For a published bestseller it contains a brow-arch inducing number of rank amateur mistakes. Not only does it offer a lot of learning opportunities, it is widespread enough to be a good example.

A recent edition to our little bookshelf is the Twilight Series. Recent events have motivated this, “merits” of the book notwithstanding.
